A General Practitioner or Family Physician is a physician who provides primary care. A General Practitioner or Family Physician treats acute and chronic illnesses, provides preventive care and health education for all ages and genders. Some also care for hospitalized patients, do minor surgery and/or obstetrics.
The Family Practitioners office would typically consist of physicians and mid-level providers (Nurse Practitioners & Physicians Assistants) who are engaged in common outpatient primary care services (including pediatrics, OB/GYN, adult medicine, & geriatrics) and applicable sub-specialist referrals.
Family Practitioners usually develop long-lasting relationships with their patients and families thereby, becoming a valuable resource and
personal health advocate for the patient.
